Tornado Sirens II

And Now The Fun Stuff Begins

Well it's that time of year in North Texas ... storm season. After a somewhat slow start, the intensity has really picked up in April, and we haven't even hit peak season yet. A couple weeks ago I was at work and the tornado sirens went off ... its an eerie sound if you've never heard them before. Click on the Youtube video above to get an idea of them. (No I didn't take the video but they sound just like that, but it goes on a good 3-4 minutes or so). Then last week, after going to bed we were rocked by thunder and lightning ... and then the sirens went off again, this time at 2 a.m. ... so scrambling to run upstairs, get the kids, get them downstairs and ready to go under the stairs in a moment's notice is a little scary. Next thing I know, the hail starts pounding the house and it sounds like a machine gun going off. I turn on the porch light and we were getting clobbered with 1" hail. I opened the door and had to grab a few hailstones like an idiot:

So what am I doing this weekend, after this past Wednesday night's storms? Cleaning up of course. Leaves and branches all over the place but at least the lawn is getting some water. Another month and we'll be home free ...

Opening Day

(be sure to click on each photo for a close-up)

After a rainout this past Saturday, Daniel's opening day T-ball game was tonight! We had a nice evening this time to watch the Dodgers take to the field against the lowly Cubs, and see our own #7 rip a few up the middle...

Fielding, on the other hand, is going to take a little time. But can you blame the kid? Temps in the upper 60's, sun shining, and a packed house on hand to cheer your every move. What's not to keep a boy distracted!

But fortunately he has coaches who take a lot of time with the kids. They show them not only the fundamentals, but teach the kids how important it is to have fun. There's so much to learn! It's a big job for someone who just turned 4, but it looks like the boys of summer are here to stay...

We'll keep you updated throughout the season as the Dodgers take on Flower Mound's future stars. At the end of the day, though, there's only one place the D-man would want to be ...
HOME!!!
